When I was 19 and Presley dropped out of college and living in a trailer park I'll be by the ocean with my friend Mike I got a job at The North Face because there were two things I like to do one was rock climb the other was made rock music The North Face is pretty good for both of these it paid well and it got me half off any rock climbing gear or other stuff I needed Anna left me all my evenings free to play in a rock band. So you know it was still retail sales not the most glamorous thing in the world but it was a pretty good job for a 19 year old that was by far the youngest person at the North Face when I started. And I eventually gravitated toward helping people who had broken stuff I wasn't like officially in the warranty department but my favorite thing was to get a call from somebody on the Pacific Crest Trail who had a broken piece of gear and figure out how to get them a new piece of gear and get them back on the trail and you know that was enjoyable to me. And that was kind of how I see wired as well I tried different things figure out the best tools for different needs and help people buy the things they need to accomplish what they want to accomplish and create what they want to create. And you know if that makes Connie Nash some money in the process I guess that's good it pays my salary but that's never really been like a motivating thing for me you know in so far as it's not what I do this for I recognize that I need to do Black Friday and things like that to pay my salary so that I can spend the other you know what 48 weeks a year playing with paddle boards and cameras and shit but after about 9 months working in the North Face my manager Ruben Salazar great guy I don't know where you are Ruben but I hope you're doing well he quit he moved on to other things I don't even remember why I think it was just overworked and burned out as tends to happen to managers and so that's fine you know I thought they would promote Christine who was The Logical Choice she was the assistant manager she was good at her job she was you know a good employee as far as I know. But they didn't they hired a guy who's previous experience was working at Mervyn's and you know that job went to shit because he turned the North Face into mervins or at least our store and you know the North Face today is a joke in the Outdoor World I don't think anybody seriously considers buying anything North Face unless they're sponsored by him for an expedition. And I worry that that's pretty much what's going to happen with jvc's replacement that it's going to be somebody from some review Mill and we're just going to be writing guides to stuff we've never tried based on you know the payout percentage of the affiliate link
