The Artist's Home-Made Easel Colored pencil and marker sketch by Warren E. Saul (1977) My father drew patents far more than he invented or innovated. Still, he was pretty handy with lumber, carriage bolts, and varnish. He built his workbench, as well as our beds, desks, storage shelves, bookcases, picnic tables, and a number of toys including a beanbag target and my knights' castle. He worked from plans of his own design and execution. I still have and use his power saw. The painting on the easel is from when he studied portraiture with Stanley Gordon (b. 1920).
