Driving the southern Louisiana coast through seemingly endless fields of marsh, cat tails and lakes, blur together on a gray misty day like today. Out here there are no houses, everything is a "camp" and every house has a sign out front with a name. Camp Canal, Camp Dr. Herbert, Camp David, Camp Southern Leisure, Camp 12 Oaks, and my personal favorite, Camp Plan B. There's no shortage of jokes out here too, I pass a single wide mobile home on 12 foot high stilts with a sign on it that read: Cajun high-rise. There are also no tire swings out here, instead you get buoy swings. Bright orange buoys hang from oak trees draped in ferns and Spanish moss.
