When you're in an Open/Save dialogue the keyboard shortcut Shift ~ will bring up a CLI style folder navigation window that lets you easily type the path to a folder. Even better, the path window features bash-style tab complete. Type the first letter of the folder, press Tab and it will auto-fill the name. Press tab again and type the next letter and so on.
