The Opera web browser is the perfect tool for finding the best travel deals online. Whether you're looking for flights, hotels, or a rental car Opera makes it easier and just might help you get a better deal on your next trip.

Finding the best deals on flights and hotels isn't as simple as it used to be. These days websites track you using cookies, watching what you're looking at and sometimes using that information against you. For example, if you're searching for the best price on a flight, websites notice that and may raise the price on subsequent visits.

Fortunately Opera offers several tools that can stop websites from tracking you and help you find those cheap flights and great hotel deals.

## Always Use Private Browsing Mode

To minimize the chances of a website raising prices on you, take advantage of Opera's Private Browsing mode.

Every time you search for a flight or hotel, open a new private window. To do that, click the Opera logo in the upper left corner of the window and chose "New Private Window". This will open a new window that's effectively a blank slate, none of your browsing history or cookies will be visible to any websites you'll visit.

This works the other way too. Once you close the private window, any cookies that were set in it will be removed, along with the record of the sites you browsed to in that window. That means you won't see those pages in your history. This is good for finding deals, since you always look like a new visitor to the website, but bad if you want to get back to that site later. The best way around this limitation is to bookmark any page you think you might want to return to later.

Another way to hide your tracks from the prying eyes of websites is to use Opera's built-in VPN. Using the VPN means that websites won't know where you're really browsing from. They can't, for example, show you higher prices just because you live in New York, if they can't tell you live in New York. Opera's VPN obscures your origin and makes it impossible for websites to know where in the world you really are.

One final tip, don't forget Opera has a currency converter, so if for some reason a site displays prices in the wrong currency, just select the price and Opera will display a toolbar with the price converted to your currency (see Opera's settings to change the converted currency).

The combo of using private browsing mode and Opera's built-in VPN will ensure that you always see the lowest prices on airfare and hotels.

## Travel Searching Tips

It never hurts to start with a basic search, that's why Opera includes Booking.com in the default speed dial. Search for the best deal on lodging via Booking.com. Another great option is Kayak.com, also part of the default sites in Opera's speed dial.

While Booking.com and Kayak are at your fingertips in Opera, there are some other flight and hotel search engines worth exploring. Skyscanner and Momondo offer clean, simple search interfaces and usually find excellent deals. While it doesn't always have the best price, Google Flights is a good way to see which days are cheaper to fly on (useful if your trip is flexible). Remember to open each of these sites in its own private window.

If you’re planning a trip with enough flexibility, several specialty travel search sites can help find more unusual deals. AirWander specializes in finding layover deals. Give it an origin and destination and it will look for good stopping points and deals that would give you time in a new city. For example, flying from London to Athens it might be possible to stop in Paris for 24 hours, spend a day in the city and still save money.

Airfarewatchdog is a good place to look for "error fares", or mistakes that have for some reason made it online. Another option for similar searches is SecretlyFlying. Our final deal-finding tip is Scott's Cheap Flights. Plug in your email and the city you want to fly out of, and Scott's Cheap Flights will fill your inbox with flight deals.

Opera GX is the world's first gaming web browser. What does that mean and why do you need a gaming browser? What we mean by gaming browser is that's it's a web browser, built for gamers with features that gamers will appreciate, like integration with RAZER Chroma and tools to limit CPU and RAM use.

Most browsers are general purpose tools, the focus of features and tools is the general populous. Opera wanted to do something special for gamers, to build a browser that's not general purpose at all, a browser that's made specifically for gamers. If that's you, Opera GX is the browser for you.

From the moment you download it, Opera GX is different. It has a darker, some might say brooding, color palette that fits in the with look and feel of gaming keyboards, mice, and even PCs and laptops. It also has the world's first animated browser boot logo, a detail we're quite proud of. It makes just starting up the browser the feel like loading a game.

The dark tones and colorful highlights look great and the integration with RAZER Chroma makes the experience of Opera GX even better. The theme (and any changes you make to Opera GX's menu and icon colors) will be reflected in your connected RAZER devices too.

## By Gamers, For Gamers

Another difference is Opera GX is the GX Corner, which brings gaming deals and news to the browser. News is pulled from gaming news websites (which ones depends on where you are, and can be controlled in the settings). The list of new games and game deals in GX Corner is curated by Opera staff and features the latest deals from Steam, Humble Bundle, and others.

Because these deals are hand curated you won't find half off sales that see some no-name game reduced from two dollars to one. We scour the web to find you the best deals on the best games and highlight them in GX Corner. Be sure to check out the badges that explain why we picked what we've picked.

## Control Your Browser

All of Opera's browsers are focused on giving users control. For Opera GX at means giving you control over how much of your system's resources the browser consumes, and how much are left for the system, and of course, games.

GX Control is the menu you'll use to customize Opera GX's system resource allotment. The CPU limiter, will throttle Opera's use of your CPU’s cores. You can set the percentage of cores that Opera gets (it needs at least one). The details of this menu will vary according to the resources your system has available to it.

GX Control can also limit memory use, which will stop those forgotten tabs from sucking up memory. Given that modern web pages can (and do) use up enormous amounts of RAM when nothing stops them, this can be a, pun intended, game changer.

Opera GX has a built-in RAM limiter that you can control in two ways. You can set a "soft" limit, which means Opera GX will do its best to stay within the RAM boundaries you set. There's also a "hard" limit setting. When a new tab would take you over the hard limit, Opera GX will shut down and older tab first so no extra RAM is used.

## Extra features

Opera GX's control center includes the option to manually control the volume of the browser, letting you turn down the beeps and pings, or even mute them and any other content with sound. You can also play videos on top of other pages, as you can in Desktop Opera, but here that means the ability to simultaneously watch a video and play an online game.

There's more to life than Google Chrome and thanks to the European Commission, even more people will soon be discovering that for themselves. In answer to the EU's antitrust charges, Google is introducing a so-called browser ballet screen in Android that offers to install a variety of mobile web browsers in addition to Chrome.

We may be little biased, but if you've never used anything but Chrome we wanted to show you a few things you've been missing. By switching to Opera for Android you'll get better privacy, faster browsing, fewer ads and annoyances, and access to cutting-edge technology like web 3.0

Opera for Android offers five key features that that will keep you safer online, speed up your browsing and block online annoyances.

## Free VPN for added privacy

Opera for Android features a built-in VPN, or virtual private network, which gives you increased control and privacy in your mobile browsing. There's no need to sign up for an expensive VPN service or download a separate app. Opera for Android already has everything you need to shield your browsing on public Wi-Fi.

To turn on the built-in VPN protection, just tap on "Settings" in your Opera browser and activate the VPN option. Once you enable the VPN, Opera will replace your IP address with a virtual IP address. This makes it much harder for websites to track your location and identify your device.

Opera does not collect any information that travels through the network servers. This keeps your private data protected and gives you added peace of mind when connected to a public Wi-Fi networks.

## Cookie Dialog Blocker

Opera for Android offers a built-in cookie dialog blocker to stop annoying cookie dialog boxes. You've probably seen these intrusive overlays that interrupt your browsing and hide the content you wanted to see.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides people with an improved control over their online privacy by requiring websites to get a user's permission before tracking them via a cookie. While that's good for user privacy, it unwittingly spawned a sharp increase in complex and confusing dialog boxes that want you to accept the site's privacy policy so the site can track you.

Opera for Android blocks these dialog boxes, letting then you surf on without any interruptions, allowing you to see the content you wanted. As an added bonus, since you never agreed to anything, those websites are not allowed to set the tracking cookies they would have set had you clicked "Agree."

## Ad blocker

Advertisements slow down the web and use up your mobile data. In fact, Opera's research shows that browsing with Opera's ad-blocking feature is on average 62 percent faster than without ad blocker. Our research has also shown that browsing with the ad blocker enabled reduces memory consumption by nearly half. That makes Opera faster, easier on your bandwidth, and potentially easier your phone's battery.

There are many ad-blocking extension available for other mobile browsers, but none of them are as fast as Opera for Android's native blocker. Extensions must look up URLs as they are received, blocking whatever matches with the extensions block list. Opera checks the block list using native code, which allows it to block ads early, when a network request for a URL is first made.

The native ad blocker is disabled by default, but turning it on is simple. Just head to Settings and toggle the "Block ads" switch to turn it on. Once it's on you can activate or deactivate the ad blocker for a specific website by clicking the Opera icon and then flipping the "block ads" switch there.

If you're interested, you can even open up the settings panel and the ad blocker dialog will tell you how many ads you’re blocking on the current page and how many you've blocked overall.

## Crypto Wallet

Opera for Android is the first web browser to integrate support for a cryptographic wallet into the browser, helping to bring the future web, Web 3.0, to you today.

Opera for Android offers support for crypto payments, directly from the browser to merchants, other users and apps. As long as the merchant supports it, you can send money from your crypto wallet to make online purchase, send money to other users, and interact with Ethereum decentralized apps, or Dapps.

Web 3.0 is being built faster than most of us have figured out what it can do and how to use it. The technology is beginning to fall into place, but it remains technical and often difficult to use. Opera is helping to bridge this gap by offering a more user-friendly and seamless experience for crypto currencies and the applications built on those platforms.

Opera hopes that by integrating Web 3 alongside the current web we will make the technology more approachable, easier to understand, and, ultimately, more mainstream.

## Choice of search engines:

Opera for Android allows you to choose from many non-standard search engines. Opera offers familiar favorites like Google, Bing or Yahoo, but also provides easy access to privacy-friendly DuckDuckGo. You can change search engines whenever you want, just select the URL bar to begin a new search and then tap the search site icon to see a list of your options.

It you'd like to change the default search engine, head to Settings and tap the "Default search engine" option to select your favorite search engine.

That's not all Opera for Android offers of course. It also syncs your data with the desktop version, offers theme support, dark mode, and dozens of other features. Check out Opera for Android today.

Switching web browsers can seem like a daunting task. Much of our daily digital lives are intimately tied to the web browser. Browsers help us store everything from bookmarks to passwords, without which most of us are lost in the wilds of the internet. Fortunately, with some planning, switching from Chrome to Opera isn't too difficult.

The benefits of switching from Chrome to Opera, from new features like Turbo Mode and the built-in ad blocker, to the greater privacy of the built-in ad-blocker, far outweigh the minor inconvenience of tracking down and exporting your data from Chrome. We've put together this guide to help make your switch to Opera simple and smooth.

## Bring Your Data With You

The first step to escaping Chrome is to download Opera

Once you have the latest version of Opera installed, open it up and click the settings icon on the far right side of the window. Scroll down until you see the option to "Import Bookmarks and Settings". Click that button and then select "Chrome" and choose what you want to import. Once Opera is done importing your data, you'll have access to all your browsing history, bookmarks and even session cookies so you won't have to log in to your favorite sites again.

The final step to making the switch from Chrome to Opera is to set Opera as your new default browser. Click that menu icon again and scroll down until you see the option "Make Opera default browser". Click that button and now any time another app wants to open a link it will open in Opera.

Congratulations, you're all set. You've escaped Google Chrome.

If this is your first foray outside Chrome you might want to get to know a few of Opera's standout features, and of course you'll want to go download any extensions you had installed in Chrome. That's right, browser extensions for Chrome work great in Opera too!

## Features Opera has That Chrome Doesn't

Before you install all the extensions you used in Chrome, you'd do well to take a closer look at Opera. Opera has dozens of features Chrome doesn't.

There's a good chance that some of what you needed extensions to do in Chrome just work in Opera. Take ad blocking extensions for instance. Opera has a built-in ad-blocker, no need to install an extension for that anymore. To turn on Opera's ad-blocker click the settings menu and look for the option to enable "Block ads" (it's under Features).

Opera also offers extras like a crypto wallet and a built-in RSS aggregator for staying on top of the news. The Power Saver mode is easier on your laptop's battery life, and Turbo Mode speeds up your browsing by compressing web pages on Opera's servers before it reaches you -- perfect for when your connection is slow. The pop-out video player makes it easy to watch any online video while continuing to browse the web. The list goes on and on. All these features can be accessed from Opera's settings menu.

## Using Extensions in Opera

While Opera offers dozens of features you won't find in Chrome, you may still want to extend it with extensions. Fortunately any extension you used in Chrome will work in Opera too.

The first time you visit the Chrome Web Store in Opera, Opera will ask if you want to install extensions. If you do, click the button to add "Install Chrome Extensions" to Opera. Once that's installed you can add extensions to Opera just as you did in Chrome.
